God didn’t create us because He was bored, lonely or needed our help. He is complete without us, but He does desire to have a relationship with us. When we look at the creation story (Genesis 1-2), we read there is only one thing that God said was “not good.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” (Genesis 2:18). God created man and woman to be in community together—and with Him.

All of life on this planet is about relationships—Our relationships others and God. The same God who created the universe knows each of us intimately and delights over us. (Psalm 139:13-19). He wants to have a relationship with us, and He wants to reveal Himself to us. We may go through lonely times in our life, but we’ll never go through it alone if we have an intimate relationship with our Creator.

If you haven’t spent time with Him recently, set aside part of your busy schedule to be with Him. Read scripture and respond in prayer. Here’s one to get you started:

“His purpose in all of this is that they should seek after God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. Acts 17:27 (TLB)

Write a prayer expressing your gratitude for His desire for you.
