For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:13 (NLT)

In Psalm 37, the Lord tells us to delight in Him, and He will give you the desires of your heart. He is not necessarily saying that when we delight in Him and His Word, we will get everything we want. He may not give us all our hearts desires, but He will shape it. The more you read His Word, spend time with him, and pursue Him with your heart, the more He will shape your desires.

Let Him shape your desires. Ask Him for the desire and power to do what pleases Him. Let Him be the source of your desires. He will give you all you need—and want.

There is a country song called, “Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers.” I believe there are times in our lives when we believe we want something so bad, but God knows it is not what is best for us. As we grow and mature, we look back and are grateful for those unanswered prayers. The more we grow closer to God by spending time with him, the more we will be praying for His purpose in our lives.

PRAYER: Lord, I give you permission to work in me and give me the desire for the will of God in my life. I receive the power to do what pleases YOU. Amen
